The Strand

Highly acclaimed as one of Southeast Asia’s leading luxury hotels, the iconic Strand Yangon has been a city landmark since 1901. Since that time, the Strand has become the social epicenter of Yangon for locals and international travelers, and declared ‘the finest hostelry East of Suez’ by John Murray in his Handbook for Travellers written in the early 20th century. The Strand Yangon completed a full refurbishment in November 2016, with all 31 suites having been redecorated in keeping with the Strand’s legendary style and timeless elegance, while being upgraded with the latest air conditioning, sound and tele-communications.

The Strand Yangon is located on Strand Road in the heart of downtown Yangon, near the Yangon River and the main commercial and diplomatic districts. It is a 40-minute drive from Yangon International Airport and within easy reach of the city’s main attractions 3 km northwest of Shwedagon Pagoda and 1.5 km northwest of Bogyoke market.

As part of the 2016 renovation project, the interiors of the hotel’s suites have been redecorated in keeping with the Strand’s legendary style and elegance, while at the same time updated with the latest technology, including new air conditioning and modern technology. The Strand is famous around the world for its flawless, personalized service and suites will continue to be attended round the clock by the hotel’s team of highly trained butlers.

The Grill features Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist, while the more informal Strand Café, which overlooks the bustle of Yangon Road, is open throughout the day for traditional western and Burmese cuisine. The Strand Bar is the social epicenter of the hotel for over 115 years and meeting place for adventurers, explorers and story-tellers.

Intimate yet spacious, the one room spa can be booked exclusively for single or couple’s therapies. Treatment menu includes Traditional Myanmar Massage, Signature Strand Massage, and Bathing Ritual.

Start your Myanmar journey in residence, exploring Yangon's diverse heritage and shopping for exceptional gems, jade and lacquer works. Yangon offers visitors a treasure trove of 19th century colonial architecture and museums, plus renowned Buddhist sites like Shwedagon and Sule Pagodas.
